Colonial In Easton For 749900 Dollars

In the heart of Easton at 60 Silver Hill Road, a scenic country road, sits an attractive antique colonial that maintains the appearance of the mid-19th century while providing all the modern conveniences of 21st centuryliving.

From the moment you turn into the driveway there are reminders of a simpler time: the two stone hitching posts that flank the driveway entrance, the attractive custom carriage doors with old-fashioned-looking hardware on the two-car attached garage and a small red barn on the far left side of thehouse.

The "side" door enters into the great room, which includes the large kitchen, eat-in kitchen and cozy family room, which has built-in bookshelves and cupboards. The kitchen features an L-shaped counter and a center island, both topped in granite, ceramic tile floor, two skylights, exposed beams, a built-in desk area, and new stainless appliances, including a Kenmore Elite refrigerator, Kenmore gas stove and Frigidaire dishwasher. There are two French doors in the eat-in section that access a long slate patio and the largebackyard.

Off the entrance foyer is the formal living room, which has the first of three fireplaces. The second fireplace is in the formal dining room, which was originally the kitchen of the house when it was first built. This room has a striking Benjamin Moore paint on the walls called Persimmon, which is a bold coral-vermillion color that is said to stimulate theappetite.

This dining room fireplace is quite large and has a wood stove unit attached. It has several built-in areas, such as a warming oven and a wood storage compartment. Above the fireplace is a parson's cabinet. There is also a built-in hutch with glass-frontcabinets.

Accessed through the dining room is a den or family room, which could also serve as a bedroom or office. It also has a fireplace, this one with a slate hearth. It also has built-in bookshelves and cubbies, a closet, a parson's cabinet above the fireplace and another cabinet built into thewall.

The master bedroom suite is accessed from the great room. It's very private and separated from the rest of the house, almost like having a separate wing. It is cavernous and features wall-to-wall carpeting and a cathedral ceiling. The master bath has a ceramic tile floor, a skylight, large shower and a walk-incloset.

On the opposite end of the kitchen is another "wing" of the house, which contains a laundry room, pantry and fullbath.

On the second floor, there are two bedrooms, each of which has its own full bath. The landing, which sits directly above the front foyer, is large enough to serve as a small sitting or readingroom.

In one bedroom there is access to a walk-up attic, which could be expanded or renovated to provide more living space ifnecessary.

At the back of the garage is a large workshop area that has a central vacuuming system. Above the garage there is a large finished room, with wall-to-wall carpeting, that could be used as a play room, game room or media room. It has a large closet with plumbing fixtures that could become a full bath, making this room an ideal guest or au pairsuite.

This room has its own heating system, a cathedral and vaulted ceiling and tracklighting.
